冰球突破官网:A brief introduction to the School of Petroleum Engineering, Yangtze University


Yangtze University is a backbone university of key construction in Hubei Province. It is jointly built by the Hubei Provincial People's Government, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC). It is a comprehensive university with the largest scale and the most comprehensive disciplines in the province. The School of Petroleum Engineering is one of the most powerful schools at Yangtze University.

School organizational structure: The School of Petroleum Engineering consists of six departments: Oil and Gas Well Engineering, Oil and Gas Field Development Engineering, Oil and Gas Field Chemical Engineering, Oil and Gas Storage and Transportation Engineering, Offshore Oil and Gas Engineering, and New Energy Science and Engineering. And it also consists of Petroleum Engineering Research Center (jointly built by Jianghan Petroleum Engineering Company), Oil and Gas Storage and Transportation Virtual Simulation Training Center (jointly built by Norway Kongsberg), Deep Sea Oil and Gas Development Research Institute, Teaching and Research Experiment Center, School Office, Teaching and Research Office, First-class Discipline Construction Office, Student Affairs Office, Sino-Russian Energy School (International Exchange and Cooperation Office).

Strong faculty: There are 111 full-time teachers, including 31 professors and 42 associate professors. Professors and associate professors account for 66% of the full-time teachers; There are 87 persons with doctoral degrees, accounting for 78% of full-time teachers. Among the full-time teachers, there are 18 full-time talents at or above the provincial and ministerial level, specifically including 2 national excellent teachers, 1 national outstanding youth fund recipient, 2 experts enjoying national government subsidies, 1 expert enjoying Hubei provincial government subsidies, 1 excellent teacher in Hubei Province, 4 excellent young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions in Hubei Province, 1 Hubei famous teacher, 3 cross-century academic backbones in Hubei Province, 2 excellent young and middle-aged backbone teachers from China National Petroleum Corporation, and 1 cross-century academic leader in China National Petroleum Corporation. In addition, there are 5 specially-appointed professors and 2 double-appointed academicians.

Complete school-running levels: There are doctoral programs, post-doctoral mobile stations and master programs in the first-level discipline of oil and gas engineering. There are 4 doctoral programs and master’s programs in the second-level disciplines of oil and gas field development engineering, oil and gas well engineering, oil and gas storage and transportation engineering, and oil and gas field applied chemistry. In addition to full-time postgraduates, it also has the same academic level and the right to grant a master's degree in resources and environment. There are 4 undergraduate majors in petroleum engineering, offshore oil and gas engineering, oil and gas storage and transportation engineering, and new energy science and engineering. Among them, petroleum engineering was approved for the construction site of "national characteristic specialty" in 2009 and "national first-class specialty" in 2020, and the oil and gas storage and transportation engineering was approved for the construction site of "first-class specialty in Hubei Province" in 2020. The Petroleum engineering major recruits second-degree students. The oil and gas engineering discipline was approved for the "Key Discipline of Hubei Province" in 2006, the first-level discipline doctoral program in 2008, the first-level discipline post-doctoral station in 2009, the "characteristic discipline of Hubei Province" in 2012, the construction of "domestic first-class discipline" in Hubei Province in 2018. And the "Oil and Gas" discipline group was approved for the construction of the advantageous characteristic discipline group in provincial universities in 2015. In the fourth round of national discipline evaluation, this discipline was rated as C+, ranking fifth in the country.

Disciplinary research direction: The main research directions are unconventional oil and gas development technology, deep-water oil and gas development technology, enhanced oil and gas recovery technology, intelligent oil field technology, integration of oil and gas efficient lifting and surface gathering-transportation, and new energy technology.

Obvious disciplinary advantages: It has three national-level teaching and research platforms, including National Engineering Laboratory of Oil and Gas Drilling Technology, National Heavy Oil Exploitation Research and Development Center, and Jianghan Oilfield Practice Training Base. There are 13 provincial research platforms, including Hubei Provincial Key Laboratory of Oil and Gas Drilling and Production Engineering, Hubei Provincial Shale Gas Development Engineering Technology Research Center, Hubei Provincial Oil and Gas Storage and Transportation Engineering Technology Research Center, Hubei Provincial Oil and Gas Drilling and Completion Tool Engineering Technology Research Center, China National Petroleum Corporation Key Laboratory of Oil and Gas Production, China National Petroleum Corporation Key Laboratory of Drilling Engineering, China National Petroleum Corporation Key Laboratory of Multiphase Flow, Oil and Gas Resources and Exploration Technology, Petroleum Engineering Virtual Simulation Experiment Center, Hubei Provincial Petroleum Discipline Postgraduate Training Innovation Base, Hubei Provincial Engineering Research Center of Microbial Oil Production, Petroleum and Chemical Machinery Research and Development Promotion Center, Petroleum Exploration and Development Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center. It has formed advantageous research directions and characteristics in the fields of drilling and completion technology, oil and gas field development theory and application, unconventional oil and gas development, the technology of greatly enhancing oil and gas recovery, and oilfield environmental protection. The research results have been popularized and applied in petroleum enterprises and achieved good social and economic benefits.

Strong scientific research strength: In order to improve the core competitiveness and major influence, it is based on the "basic research level, and the application is applied" as the work policy. Guided by producing high-level research results and improving the level of scientific research platforms, the school actively carried out academic research. And it has formed advantageous research directions and characteristics in the fields of drilling and completion technology, oil and gas field development theory and application, unconventional oil and gas development, the technology of greatly enhancing oil and gas recovery, and oilfield environmental protection. The research results have been popularized and applied in petroleum enterprises and achieved good social and economic benefits. In the past five years, the school won 1 first prize of the national science and technology progress award, and 20 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards. School published 238 SCI / EI papers, published 18 academic monographs, and obtained 75 authorized invention patents.

Excellent quality of talents: In the past five years, students won 84 national awards and 146 provincial and ministerial awards, publicly published 155 academic papers, obtained 6 national patents and 2 software copyrights. There are more than 70 provincial excellent undergraduate graduation theses, more than 20 excellent master graduation theses, and 3 Excellent Doctoral graduation theses. Since 2007, the one-time pass rate of CET4 has reached more than 85%. The employment rate is stable at more than 90% and the postgraduate entrance examination rate is more than 25%. The school undertook more than 10 provincial-level "University Student Innovation Plan" projects and more than 30 school-level "University Student Innovation Plan" projects. Graduates have been well received by employers, and a large number of graduates have become leaders and business backbones of oilfield enterprises and institutions, including provincial and ministerial leaders, a large number of middle-level cadres, well-known scholars, and outstanding entrepreneurs.

Foreign cooperation and exchanges: The school carries out "2 + 2" joint training with the University of New Mexico, the Missouri University of Science and Technology, and the University of Calgary in Canada, and recruits foreign students all year round. The school maintains close contact and cooperation with domestic petroleum universities, petroleum research institutes, and petroleum enterprises in scientific research and academia. And it also maintains extensive scientific research cooperation and academic exchanges with the Stanford University, the University of Tulsa, the University of Missouri Lola, the University of Wyoming, the University of Oklahoma, the University of Regina in Canada, the Tyumen Industrial University in Russia, etc. The school introduces well-known scholars from foreign universities as planning talents in Hubei Province and foreign advanced teaching and scientific research management experience, and discusses new ideas of cooperative school running, and cultivates new talents with an international vision.
